Tal Ulus

Doctoral dissertation under the supervision of Prof. Ronnie Ellenblum

Tal Ulus is a doctorate student in the Geography Department and the Advanced School for Environmental Studies at the Hebrew University and a member of the "Materials for Change" research group at the Mandel Scholion Research Center. Her dissertation, under the guidance of Professor Ronnie Ellenblum, examines climate changes, with emphasis on droughts, as a possible explanation for the current mass movement of people from Africa’s Horn and Sahel regions to the European continent. Another aspect of her study examines the attempts to block these waves of immigration and refugees, by enforcing strict policies and investing substantial amount of resources in the construction of walls and fences, additionally viewing the public and political discourses that accompany these attempts.
