On 8/1/20, the seminar and the annual alumni conference of the department took place. As part of the seminar, we awarded scholarships and prizes to outstanding students, marked the retirement of Prof. Rehav Rubin and enjoyed hearing stories of Jerusalem from storyteller and media personality, Jackie Levy.

Pictures from the Mapathon event held yesterday in the Department of Geography. The students took part in a collaborative mapping project, which they must map through the OSM interface (OpenStreetMap) - an international collaborative mapping project, which is free to use. OSM data is used by individuals and organizations around the world, and can be used for a variety of social, environmental, and even life-saving purposes.

30 people participated in the annual departmental study tour that was dedicated to urban change in the heart of metropolitan Tel Aviv. The tour was guided by a department graduate, Orly Erel, deputy cut engineer and head of the planning department at the Tel Aviv Municipality. Among the projects visited was the Gindi redevelopment project on the site of the former wholesale market site, the Givon project that includes a new public square and the Azrieli Sarona Tower under construction and the tallest building in Israel.

26 students from the Geography Department and other departments participated in this study tour, led by Professor Noam Shoval that took place from 28th March -3 April 2017. The tour focused on the Urban and Tourist Geographies of Barcelona, Tarragona and the Gold Coast area (Costa Daurada).

30 students participated in this study tour in the Dead Sea Area under the direction of Amos Frumkin. The tour included observations and explanations along the Dead Sea shoreline including Kaza Al- Yahud, Nachal Dragot estuary, sink-holes along the shore and Nachal Hatzatzon

This tour took place in the center of Tel Aviv and was led by Eran Feitelson and Sigal Kaplan. It included study visits to the construction site of the new light rail system, the maintenance and operations control center of the Ayalon Highway and the Harel tunnels on the Jerusalem- Tel Aviv highway. This tour place on Friday 28.10.16 and covered the area of Abu Ghosh and Neve Ilan. It commemorated the end of Efrat Morin's term as Department Chair and her move to the Faculty of Earth Sciences. The tour began at the site of the church in Abu Ghosh where Ronnie Ellenbloom demonstrated the contribution of Historical Geography to the understand of the Crusader period. This was followed by a series of short explanations of the landscape from the Neve Ilan vantage.

This began with an explanation of coastal degradation at the Olga cliffs and it implications for policy and development as explained by Oded Katz and Amit Mushkin from the Geological Institute. The tour then continued to the Nachal Hadera Park for some insights into the environmental implications of the national desalination project from Eran Feitelson. The final stop was at the Nachsholim Beach where Kurt Raveh demonstrated latest findings in the area of marine archeol
